Trailing arm bushings

My rear seems a little loose so I am looking into replacing the trailing arm bushings in both sides. I was under the car this afternoon and it seems like you will not be able to push out the outer bolts without dropping the whole rear axle carrier. Looking in the shop manual MB says the same and refers to the job numbers you’ll need in order to get to the bushings.

I would very much like to avoid that since it seems like a real PITA so I wanted to ask if anyone has replaced the bushings without dropping the rear axle carrier? If someone was successful in doing out what was the process?
