Cluster panel dials - all gone - instrument panel
 

94sl320 - tach, speedometer, oil pressure, fuel consumption, fuel level all 0. Odometer and trip odometer also out as well as the external ambient temp in digitial in dead center.

I had some minor problems and then bam there all out.

I found a fuse in the fuse box front left which was labeled instrument cluster and it shared with back tail light. But fuse is intact.


Engine temp works.... tho...wth

cluster lights ALso work.

what gives anyone?

#1 replace the fuse no matter how 'good' it looks

#2 if that does not help, pull the instument cluster and check the ground wires behind it. There should be a bolt with a bunch of brown wires attached. Also check the plugs going into the cluster. one might have fallen out

found some threads re removal. refers to special tools. what tools? appears its going to be a bear.

Remove the lower bolster and push it out from behind,,,, you may have to get creative with a pry bar, but less chance of breaking the cluster. Mine was REAL tight.

Cluster is only held in by friction fit. No wires to disconnect as all are on self aligning plugs. Lower steering wheel as far as it will go, then disconnect the battery. Remove the knee bolster and push the cluster out from behind. Forget the special tools, as they are difficult to use and can scratch the plastic face plate if you don't get them exactly in the right positions. Failure is probably voltage regulator circuit on cluster, but unless you're a Electronic Engineer, you'll need to send it to one of the repair outfits. http://mbcluster.com/
