Another canvas top question

I found a Stayfast canvas top for sale on ebay from Tops 4 Less. It's pre-cut using a computerized cutting table and goes for $285 plus $16.95 for shipping. With everything that I've heard and read, installing one of these requires surgical skills, a hefty bank account, and your first born. So, I emailed Tops4Less and they claim that because it is pre-cut it relatively simple and can't be done in 3 to 4 hours. What gives? This is for an '81 380SL that it is nowhere near showroom caliber but with no rust and only 74,000 it's not bad either. Again, if it's pre-cut how hard can it be?

It isn't "hard" but it's tedious. I did one on my driver car so I would do a better job on my "good" car. I made a few mistakes...but not serious. Most, but not all, of what you need to know is in the ship manual or on these forums.

got to agree with strife, dont be put off its a simple job, just take your time. Mine took me about 5 hours over 3 or 4 days as I had to wait for glue to set before I carried on. I found that once I had the front bow done the rest was really easy. its just taking the first step!
cheers

I have not done it, but before you start study your current top and take lots of pictures (with the top in position, partly folded -- in various stages of fold) just to have a better idea of how things are supposed to look.

Good luck!

I wouldn't buy that top. I only use GAHHcom.
