73 450SL fuel filter location
I have a 73 450SL that I need to change the fuel. Where is the loaction of it? Is it an inline filter under the car or is it under the hood.

It's under the car near the fuel tank. Look under the car from the passenger side rear wheel well and you will see a cover protecting two cylinders - one is the filter and one the pump. Lousy job without hoist, so I had shop replace mine!

Did mine with a jack, I thought it was easy. I did find that the 3 rubber mounts had perished so replaced them too. Make sure you get the right filter with the right hose connector.

Do yourself a favor and get a pair of Rhino ramps at Pep Boys. You can then back the car onto them, and work on the fuel pump fairly easily. Clamp the lines tight, and make sure you also replace the accumulator while you're under there, or you'll be sorry later.
