500 SL - Trunk Lid Struts - Help !

I am trying to replace my trunk lid struts on a 1993 500SL. I cannot figure out how to disconnect the upper portion of the struts to disconnect them from the lid hinge. Any help appreciated !

Those are ball end struts, if I remember correctly. If so, you just pop them off with a screwdriver.

Thanks for the reply. Your idea is spot on for the lower connections. The upper connections are totally different and I still cannot visibly figure out how they detach. It doesn't appear that there is anything to pry upwards or off in order to get the upper mount to release. Also, there doesn't seem to be any kind of a release button.

I replied on other thread. There is a band you see across the strut (above where it pivots on the ball), use a screwdriver to pop that band off, then the pivot will "fall" right off.

Thanks Gilly,

You also are describing removal procedure for the bottom portion of the struts. The upper portion is a completely different type of connection - i.e. no thin wire "band" to pull away causing it to let go of the connector.
I will try to take a photo of it this evening, maybe that will help...

I'm sure it will, drawing a blank, but if you show it to me I have probably dealt with it.
