Hi all,

My earlier question about SL owners' ages got many interesting replies from folk - and seemed to be such a popular topic - that it has brought out the curiosity in me again.

So I wondered - what do other SL owners do for a living? Do we all fall into a neat job slot, or do some of us have off-the-wall occupations?

It would be a great topic to share.

So to start it all off, here's my job: As well as some business interests and investments, I write and publish 'how-to' books on marketing solely over the internet, and have been doing so for the last 10 years or so. I've sold over 300,000 - mainly in the last couple of years - and it's a growing, profitable business that runs on autopilot... leaving me plenty of time to ask these crazy questions on this forum

Physician--family practice rather than neurosurgery, which means a 14-year-old 560SL rather than a new 500, which is ok because I actually like the 107 better; the 129 and newer seem too automatic. I also work part-time for my hospital on patient safety and patient care processes, and I may eventually figure out how that kind of interest might predispose me to MB addiction; fell in love with them in 1969 when my folks bought one, and bought one myself only 33 years later!

Barrister--that is a court attorney in England. I wear one of those funny wigs and and a gown. I specialise in commercial and chancery disputes.

Chartered Engineer. Which, because of the appallingly low value that the UK puts on its engineers means a 20 year old SL instead of a 2 year old one.

Airline pilot.
Captain for American Airlines.
Been with American since Oct 1984 and have until June 29 2014 until I retire. We must retire at age 60.

I retired last year, after eleven years as an "organizational repairperson" and quality improvement consultant for Boeing, teaching graduate-level college courses part-time for ten years, and practicing marriage and family therapy for seventeen years (my Ph.D. is in psychology).

Been thinking about getting a tattoo: "Born to Retire" (left upper arm so it would show when I drive the SL in a T-shirt with the sleeves rolled up)

I have a degree in theology and I was in the pastorial field for 20 years. Eleven of those spent in Swaziland and the Republic of South Africa. I am now Case Manager for a social services company in Los Angeles county. My company has many vocational programs for the developmentally challenged adults. My particular office runs an adult day recreational program. I handle the cases for 45 adults.

When I started about 15 years ago I was a "patent" attorney -- now I am an "intellectual property" attorney -- an industry with some insecurities-- I guess. Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights are what I do.

Electronics engineer, specialising in the combination of Medical and IT technology. Have been techno since the age of 3. I can't remember when I wasn't making something from batteries & bulbs and when I got really old, door bells!

Bedroom alarms, miniture lighting and modifying CBs featured in my great apprenticeship of early life.

Now it's all designing PCBs, and IT infrastructure

- hence my interest in the SL's electronic systems - and still loads to learn

Director of IT (Information Technology) for a large corp....been in IT for the last 22 years. Presently my time is spent on Strategic Planning, Contract Management and Information Protection.

At heart I'm an inventor and marketer. In 1980 I designed and succesfully marketed the first multi-angular suction cup radar detector winshield mount (what a mouthful). Also, the first coil power cord for radar detectors. This entailed everything from drafting and machining to importing and writing ad copy.

Ron Popeil (SP) is my idol...lol

dabble in home building in new jersey and florida.

love my 560Sl and think i want to buy another one for florida..

Greetings...I am semi retired...was a sales rep for 3M for twenty years in telcom industry.Now days I am a manufacturers rep handling sales for seven different companies.A little travel...a little golf...but somebody has to do it.

On my second 560 SL,both 1987's oddly enough.

Warehouse manager during the week. Restaurant hood cleaning/service during the weekend/evenings (you wouldn't believe the amount of people who tell me I have a crappy job). DIY Benz mechanic the rest of the time.
