Removed sun visors from 560SL, messy electrical problem follows

I recently removed the sun visors from my '87 560SL after numerous mentions from passengers that their placement right in front of their forehead was troubling in the case of an accident.

I like the car better without them anyway.

BUT removing them required me to snip a wire that connected directly to the visor. There was no way I could see to remove it without going dangerously far up the electrical chain... or so I thought.

Now my stereo no longer works, nor the overhead lights. It seems like maybe this is a Christmas Lights kind of effect where one severed connection throws off the equilibrium of the system??

Any suggestions on easy repair, other than just putting back those head-scalping sun visors and splicing the wire back together...?

Any chance you might have blown a fuse while doing the disconnect, like a momentary contact to ground? I could see the overhead light not working, but the radio should be a totally separate circuit (but maybe on the same fuse).

Look at fuse # 12

I agree. You may have a fuse blown. My 560 had the wires cut to the passenger visor when I got it 4 years ago (I assumed it was because the mercury switch in the visor was faulty and it would not turn off) and I've experienced none of the problems you mentioned.

Yup, it was just the fuse. Didn't expect something that simple. Thanks all.
