Left side cam advance solenoid leaking

I had a PPI done on a prospective purchase of a 1997 SL500 and the report included reference to a left side cam advance solenoid leaking. I tried searching on this forum for that as a subject, but nothing came up. Is this a big deal? The report also said that the whole windshield had to be replaced because the rain sensor was missing and there's not a repair kit for reattaching that - has anyone tried to DIY that?
Thanks.
Simon

Alldata shows 5.7 hours to replace the cam adjuster, so that would be worst case. It would depend on what's leaking, though. I have never had one apart, but I would guess it is probably a seal on some part of the cam/adjuster that turns.

Spoke to the service manager and he said it was simply a seal, $170 to replace.

If you go ahead with this, would you post the PN of the seal they replaced?

Both of the adjusters on my car show signs of seeping.

Thanks,

Well, that's interesting ...

This shows up in the EPC as the solenoid for the six cylinder engines. The number for the 119 is 119 051 01 77.

Thanks for the information, and hope you are enjoying your new car.
