380sl non starter

morning all. i know this subject has been discussed many times and i have read many of the posts but i'm still seeking advice. my 1984 380sl has not been driven in almost a year. i periodically start it up and let it idle for a while. last start was about three weeks ago with no problem. this past weekend i tried to start it and no luck. engine turns over strong but no fire. i have never been ware of the fuel pump hum you guys refer to but i did put in a new fuel pump relay last evening. unfortunately this did not help. still will not fire. should i go ahead and replace the fuel pump or is there a recommended alternative to explore. your help is grteatly appreciated. by the way, there are 74k miles on the car and i've never realyy had any prior issues.

mike
