Is the cam oiler replacement really as straight forward as it seems? Remove the old ones, push in new ones, maybe with some mild force according to the threads I was reading.
It is fairly easy. You have to make sure to remove all small bits that may remain in the cam tower holes. A pair of tweezer and other small tools help. Your early model has the smaller steel tube so it is less likely to bend. Rubber mallet to seat the pieces is suggested. Work in gradually.

Mine were plastic, the old ones came out in one piece, so maybe they weren't that old, I cleaned the tube out and used the wood handle of a hammer to work the new ones in, starting in the middle and working my way out.

I replaced them with Elring-Klinger plastic ones. I didn't see metal ones available, my car has the 8mm tubes.

I've got a brunch to get to, but I'll do the other side this afternoon, I got my powdercoated valve covers ready to go on, so I'll post pics tonight.

No real mechanical updates, did front brake hoses (did rear calipers, hoses, pads, and rotors last fall), still hearing a little rubbing up front, I've got a new set of front pads for it, I may just throw those on.

Had my friend wax it, but haven't gotten to the floors yet

Nice. I am not a fan of the chrome fender arches but that is a matter of personal taste kind of like wheels.

They were on the car when I bought it, I don't care for them, but I am worried the paint will have faded unevenly under them and I'll have brighter red rings.

However this car is Carnelian Red, not Signal Red.

Here are the valve covers, had them media blasted, and then clear powdercoated.

Some pics from Mid-Ohio this weekend

This was a GORGEOUS Euro 500SEC

Don't worry, the grey wheels are merely temporary on my car, I picked up some extra hubcaps so I'm having 7 hubcaps refinished for my car but I didn't want to rock bare steelies, so the OZ wheels were the only Mercedes wheels with an offset that worked well on the 107.
