1984 380SL Timing Chain UPDATE

Many may remember a couple weeks ago I had the timing chain, guides & tensioner replaced on my 1984 380SL. They found the tensioner guide cracked, & I was extremely lucky I had everything replaced.

NOW, with only 350 miles since the dealer's job, I am hearing again the same "tick tick tick" at cold start-up...lasting a few seconds (as I was hearing before). I called the dealer yesterday, and they were mystified why. They said it could be a lifter. The tick tick is not a soft sound, but pronounced. They want me to bring it back in this Thursday to recheck everything. Any idea WHAT COULD BE WRONG? As I told the dealer, this is extremely dishearten since I just paid a nice sum to get rid of the noise at start-up.

Thanks!

Richard
