2000 sl500 starter location

Okay here's a silly question. Where is the starter located ? My car will not start, lots of juice as radio, etc will all work, can even put top back up but car will not start. I do hear a click , almost like two of them. I want to gently tap the starter and see if that helps, but I feel silly I don't know where it is . It was a lot easier on my 72 datsun ! Can the starter go that quick ? With old Datsun she lasted a while until I had the money to repair, pushed down the street and jump started that baby. Thanks for any help.
