Soft and Hard top problems. Help needed.
 

After I removed the hard top to open a soft top, I discovered 2 problems.
1) The soft top wouldn't close ate the windshield and the rear portion of the soft top wouldn't go down at all
2) After I took off the soft top completely, and put back the hard top, the red light stays on and starts beeping, once I start driving.
Please advise what to do, what the problem can be.

Hydraulic System likely needs Work
 

I have the very same problems with my R129. When raising the top, I have to manually latch the top at the windshield. Once done, the automatic operation finishes. And when putting the hard top on, I have to manually latch the hardtop at the windshield and at the left rear latch. All of this is explained in the owners manual.

Your problem may be electrical, such as a bad solenoid on the valve block. But I would guess it is hydraulic -- you could have a problem with weak system pressure, a leaking cylinder, a leaking valve block, or possibly something else.

Troubleshooting the hydraulics seems to require a pressure gauge. I priced this gauge at Fletcher Jones and they wanted about $1000. And the price of a valve block was ridiculoulsly high too. You may decide like me to live with the inconvenience of having a nearly full-automatic top.
