sluggish 280 engine follow up

I posted this problem on 6/21 and got a suggestion of bad vacuum advance or vacuum leaks or bad cat converter.

Here is how i am circumventing the problem.

When the car hits 55mph (which is about all it can muster) I set the cruise control
and then lift up on the cruise control lever. The car responds and smartly speeds up to whatever speed I choose without downshifting . As long as the cruise is on the car has plenty of power.

Any thoughts on how this can be?

Thanks

Dan

Sounds strangely like a problem with your foot pedal throttle linkage...

Yup it was the linkage

Thanks for your advise walrus

Found spring that fits into bracket on fire wall was flopping around due to lack of tension.

Did a temp fix with a washer which gets tension back into the linkage

Car is back to good performance

Will order parts from pelican tomorrow to correctly fix the problem

Cost $2

Thanks again

Dan
