R129 brake pedal adjustment

Is it possible to adjust the rod between the vacuum booster and the master brake cylinder? I have bled the brakes twice ( vacuum and pressure ) but actuated brake pedal still is about an inch from the floor with the engine running. Brakes work fine, recent pads and rotors, no leaks that I can see. Just a low comfort level. 1998 SL500 Thanks
