Did SLs have lined soft tops?

Was just wondering if anyone can tell me if the R107 SLs came from the factory with softtops that were lined or not.

In other words, you could not see the soft top frame because there was an inner lining on the inside portion of the soft top.

Or was the softtop framework always exposed.

Can't tell on mine since the softtop on mine has been replaced at least once that I know.

thanks

There is an inside layer to the top that's a facing on the top material itself; it attaches to the bows. There's no actual liner in the sense that the cabriolets have.

I do not think that Mercedes ever did provide a liner. I do remember seeing a liner being sold aftermarket in the MBCA magazine maybe 15-20 years ago. I have not been able to talk to anyone who remembers this.

The aftermarket inner liner for the softtop can be purchased from www.prestigeautotops.com. About $150

I went to the prestige auto web site. If anyone installs the liner or has installed the liner, would you please let us know if its was 1) easy to do and 2) looks good?

Thanks -- this looks like a great way to cover old moisture stains on an otherwise good top. Plus, if it is easy to remove (after installation) it can be placed within a new top when the time comes to change the top.
