Fuel pumps relay
I am hAaving a problem with my 560Sl 89 model, I start the car after 4 minutes it dies, I donīt hear the pumps runing any more, after some reseach at the old post I diceded it was the relay, whent ahead took the glove box out, now the question, what are those two silver relays for?, one of the big ones syas clima on it, most likely air conditioner, the other one says 8 zyl, 6000rpm, most likely the fuel pumps one, what is the other big one for. it says idler speed control 8zyl. Is there any way to jump some wires here to test my theory? is the 002 545 16 05 number on the relay the rigth one? date on it is 20 jan 89 so is the original one.
Thanks in advance |
fuel pump relay
The way I understand it, the relay labeled "6000RPM" is the fuel pump relay, as it cancels voltage to the pump at maximum engine allowable RPM, or 6000. It aslo, however, cancels voltage to the pump if the ignition stops sending an RPM signal, so in effect after the engine dies, the pump not running is normal.
The fuel pump terminals should be labeled 87v, 30,87,31,TD,50, TF,87K,and 15, to help you identify it. Perhaps one of our more experienced helpers can help you take it from there. |
Did the 30/87 terminal jump wire clip trick, no more problems, I will try to get me one tomorrow, wish me luck.
