Power antenna

The motor on my power antenna died yesterday. Checking on replacement for original I was a bit shocked at the price for it. Has anyone found a good replacement antenna unit they would reccommend? 1982 380SL, and yes I am sure it is the antenna motor that is bad.

I am not familiar with the particulars of your antenna. But generic "Hershman" power antenas are often listed on e-bay. Also, I've seen ads in "The Star" run by small companies which re-build antennas for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

You can buy one from Pep Boys or Best Buy for $40.

I'd find out what other body styles (123, 124,126?) use the same antenna and get one from a salvage yard. Might be easier to get an antenna for the other body style if it uses the same antenna. I've never seen a motor die, although I'm sure it happens.
