Front end noise/pop on '94 320SL
 

I went from custom 18" wheels, back to orginal 16" factory. Ever since the change, there is a "popping noise" on the front end. I have pulled the wheels and can't find anything wrong, but the noise is still there. I have also had a mechanic check it out, and everything seems OK...but the noise continues. Could it possibly be bad struts? All other front end components look fine. Any ideas or things I may be overlooking?
