What is V107?

Haha, I feel like I should at least know the answer to that before I purchase my first SL500, but I'm too late!

Just purchased a 98 with about 48k.

Assuming it is in very clean condition, what's a reasonable price for a 98 SL500 with 48K (just wondering if I am off to a losing start already).

Since I fear the high cost of parts and since it is a 6 year old vehicle, I purchased a 4 Year/100K(odometer reading) exclusionary warranty. Pricey, but worth the peace of mind I think.

I will have questions for you in the future as I like to do some of my own basic maintenance.

Doug

W107 refers to the body style of the SL from 1972-1989; it began life as the 350SL and ended in the US as the 560SL. It looks like this:

Welcome. You purchased a great SL.. The frame style for all SL's 1990 thru 2002 are known as the W129, commonly referred to as the 129. The average price range for a 98 SL500 with 40 to 50K miles should be $29,000 to $35,000.0. Of course condition, service records, etc. will determine the price and disireability of any vechicle along with the color combos. Good luck and enjoy the summer.

Thanks guys

I'll do some archive searches before I ask any more basic questions.

My first jobs are going to be to simply change the oil and probably replace the air filters with K&Ns or similar permanent styles. Hopefully those jobs won't be anything I need to ask questions about.

By the way, Bruce, I'm from PA also. Pittsburgh. I'll go try to update my profile.

Hey, another PA guy. Well we waited all winter for this nice weather. Now's the time to really enjoy top down driving. Again enjoy to new SL. Post pics of the SL when you get a chance.

BTW. You were very wise to purchase the extended warranty, your covered for any major costs for quite some time - good move.
