"Chirping" Noise from wheel hub.
Has anybody experienced a bird-like chirping noise from the wheels during slow speed driving? It's not brake-related. I have new rotors, pads and bearings repacked all around. It is a rotation-related sound. It's a beautiful car that sounds like the wheels are about to fall off!

Heat shield?
I had a problem with a brake heat shield that covers the ABS Sensor breaking a weld and rubbing against the hub. Sounded like a chirping.

It bet thats what wrong with mine. I hit a killer pothole with the passenger side rear, and now I've got a chirp. Something bent makes sense.

Rear or front wheels??
I have the same on my R129. It's just the front wheels and worse on the left side. I've fixed this several times. It seems to appear every spring when I take the car out of the garage. .. My problem has been what Steve is describing. The heat shield is bent in some way. A little agresivity, bending and hitting makes the problem go away. (This doesn't sound like Mercedes, does it!?) |

Chirp
Exactly as discribed herein only on every little bump. I leaned out the window and heard it clearly on the drivers side... I pulled the hood release at 5 mph going over the same bumps and NO CHIRP!! This happenes every spring and I spray the hinges and contact points and all is fine.
