WANTED: Trailer Hitch for 300D (W123) Sedan

Would prefer 2" receiver type, but I'm not going to be picky. Would even consider euro style permanent hitch. ddornbrach@yahoo.com
Thanks!

Trailer hitch

autobahnfahrer,

Are you still looking for a trailer hitch? I have one that's easily removable when not needed. what's a good used unit with all the nuts, bolt and parts worth? Can send pictures.

Ben

I would be interested in it if you have more than one, hope it fits a 1985 300TD wagon...

Trailer hitch

benzzy,

Unfortunately, this hitch came off of a 300D sedan and besides bolting onto the rear bumper is also attached to the spare tire pan under the car. There are two large curved reinforcing brackets that go inside the tire well and have three bolts each which fasten to the second attaching bracket under the car.

This makes two attach points, one on the bumper and one on the bottom of the spare tire pan. At each of these attach points there is a large pin which enables the tow bar to be removed from the car when not in use.

The pins are held in place by very large cotter pins.

So, you can see that the unit is one that fits only a sedan as there's no spare tire pan on a wagon where the second attaching bracket can be bolted up.

Let me know if you're still interested. If so, I'll try to firgure out how to attach pictures. Also make me an offer, if interested.

Thanks,
Ben
