Dave S San Jose CA mattdave@pacbell.net PS if your local you can have it for free if you pull the AC pump.

I'm in Austin, TX

To purchase a new one, it seems that the MB dealer is the only source...and they want $425 for the part! I found one at a local salvage yard, they wanted $40 for it, but it is warped in the same way as mine. It seems that if the center (the only) mounting bolt is over-torqued the mating surface bows making the flat surface rather convex, thus rendering the part unusable because it won't seal. If/when you remove the part, lay a straight edge along the mating surface and see if it's flat.

Thanks,

?

But, is it flat?
Any chance you could send me a pic of it so I can be sure it's the same part?
What car did it come off of?
I'm pretty sure the MB part number is 617-130-0157 but I don't know if that number is stamped on the part...

I don't mean to sound picky or unappreciative, but I don't want to waste time/money and get my hopes up only to find that it won't work. Yes, Autumn is here but it's still 90 degrees in Central Texas!

Thanks,

it is flat

It is flat I just pulled it I was just going to ask for an email adress to send a picture too so you could see if it is the one you are looking for. I am 99 percent sure it is off a 1980 300sd but dont recall for sure there have been a few MBZ and I always yank the AC
MY email is mattdave@pacbell.net

mesured it

If you put a flat edge across the outside edge there’s less than a thousands of an inch gap in the center so small as to be insignificant
