FS: '69 280SE Coupe Engine/Trans Rebuilt Super-Cheap
Hello all,
Well, our beloved coupe is chopped down now and I'm putting her heart up for sale. Motor is a 280 mech inj that was rebuilt by my father about 30k mi ago. He can't find any reciepts, but I have the compression #s (PM me if you want 'em). She got the total rebuild: new pistons, cylinder hone, crank sent out and turned, bearings all around, full valve job, etc, etc. She's a strong runner. I'm looking to get $500 for the motor. It has the auto tranny that can be had for a nominal fee if it ships w/ the engine. All in all I would prefer a pic-up... For that matter, it is still in the stripped car (280SE coupe)and I would let it go for next to nothing if you came and took the whole damn lot. The car still has some good sheet metal, all the glass (at the moment), and almost all the mechanicals, inc a nearly new actuator on the rear diff. Let me now if any of this interests you at all. Mostly just looking to help out someones project and get it out of my barn, like so many other have done for me. Thanks! Cheers, -Matt-

In case it wasn't clear enough above this is a 1969 280SE Coupe that is up for discussion. The motor, however, would fit anything that came stock w/ a M180 or a M130; w108, w109, w111, w112, sedans and coupes.
I really would like the whole thing gone, so if you need a nice motor, and don't mind dealing w/ a little scrap metal and some very nice glass, or could use any of it, I'll let it go super-cheap! -M-

OMG this is exactly what I need. I'm running a 71 208sel. Is it a straight 6? That is what is in my 108 and a month after I bought it the engine locked up. If your willing to work out any deals or payment methods I would be forever in debt to you. I have been going through a lot of tough times and this could really make my day. Please give me a call 513-889-8771. I'm in the Cincinnati area and will do anything to get this engine if you know for a fact that it's will work in my car. THANKS!

Wow. Talk about resurrecting a dinosaur. And a reply, a PM, and an email from 3 different people?!?
Where were all you boys & girls 5yrs ago when I couldn't get a buyer that engine for months & months?!? To clarify, that engine was sold almost 5yrs ago. I don't know if anyone is interested, but I think we have a couple 230/250/280 long blocks kicking around still. None would have run in, man, probably damn near 20yrs, but... Just throwing it out there...

By 280, do you mean a m130?

I should probably scrap this thread as the title is completely misleading at this point, but I'll answer questions first at least:
mwoodlands: Which front side markers? The cones or the ones that sat inside the stacked headlight bezel? Nik: The blocks I have kicking around are mid-60's to 1970 of the M129/130 family. I'd have to get someone to crawl into the barn and pull engine numbers to tell you exactly what was there. PM me if you're interested.
