I am looking at major body work project (new sheet metal) vs rough & ready rust repairs for our old 300D.

Last year, I had a quotation on doing one front fender and one rear quarter panel. Front fender part cost was about C$380 but quarter panel must have been only partial because cost was lower - about $110.00.

I have looked on net and can't find a good source that has both panels. I did find front fender for $50 - $60 from a place in California, but shipping was prohibitive even if I had them shipped to a nearby border town (we are in Canada) - Shipping was, I think about $600. They did not have the quarter panels. Anyone had any luck getting more economical shipping of large parts?

Any Canadian Sources?

Can you pick up your fenders and quarter panels in New York...You might think about it...should be easy to find what you want there...Jim

I could have them shipped to Northern New York. At the nearest crossing to us (Alex Bay) there are no large cities - Nearest is Syracuse 3 hours away, and I don't know of anyone that stocks parts down there.

The shipping charges I was given were about US$600 from California to Alex Bay.

I guess what I really need, is the Toronto or Montreal source for MB body panels.

Try Dan Caron at Benz Barn in Port Huron. (south of Sarnia) He might have what you need and would have some ideas on vendors.

That shipping quote is high too. Most of the domestic guys on ebay ship body parts via greyhound or Fedex ground. A fender going cross country via bus is only $75-100 US. Ship it to the closest bus terminal, then pick it up.

PS. I shipped a dodge challenger hood from BC via Purolater, cost about $100 Cdn.

Thanks for link. I had a look - Prices are good for fenders - Don't have a lot of other parts though. Shipping still a problem unless I pick up in NY state.

Thanks for link. I had a look and they have a distributor in Canada. Their prices are higher than others on web, but they have all needed parts. Will check with them next week.

In reading their site, I found that they have an agent in Canada - Cross/Canada Auto Body. These people have warehouses in several parts of Canada including Toronto.
