You Car Parters ! Good Cheap Shipper!!

I see there are some parters out there like me! If you need a shipper for your large heavy parts, give these guys a call ! You may be surprised at the ship cost! Have used them twice now once for a hood to NY and now a tranny to CA. They will go B2B or door to door
Call SBT "Small Business Tranportation" @ 1-888-368-6022 Ext 21 and talk to Chris

No I own no stock in this company is just a tip to help out some of you guys!

Good info...I plan of getting a fairly large shippment sent to me...and the shipping will be more than the value of the parts as it is.

Smokie, what was the cost for shipping? It'd be nice to have as an example.

Other cost effective shipping alternatives are:

Grey Hound bus - Very fast and inexpensive./ Ideal for bumpers, fenders etc.

National Van Lines - if they have room in a truck they'll add your piece inexpensively.

Fedex Freight - Drop off at Fedex office. Typically cheaper than common carrier.

I believe it was about $75 to ship a Audi Hood to NY area and I just sent a tranny from NC to San Deigo for $150 .

My dad used to get all his Mercedes parts shipped on a Greyhound bus. If he called the dealership in Kansas City by 9 a.m. on a weekday, it would arrive in our town (a tiny burg in Kansas six hours from the dealer) by 9 o'clock the next morning.

This was in the 1970s and there was no other way (except Parcel Post from USPS) to get anything shipped to a place like that. And Parcel Post probably would've taken five days.

Great to know that Greyhound can still deliver like this.

http://www.freightcenter.com/ is another good source. It compares various companies and provides a free quote and reference number and allows you to save the quote.

me too

I just sent a HUGE box w/ two fenders cross country on greyhound and it was cheap. I could have saved half, if I hadn't used such a big box.

Do you happen to know what the weight limit is for shipping via Greyhound? I assume they are better for large, bulky items as opposed to really heavy stuff.

With Greyhound....WARNING

Be very careful shipping anything COD with Greyhound. In the past it has taken months to finally get my money from them and heard all sorts of excuses as to why I hadn't received it. They have been through many problems and close to bankruptcy so figure they could use my money for awhile at no cost! If you don't hear from them, be persistent!

cheap shipping

I have also shipped things via United Airlines from one terminal to another. I was shipping a computer to my nephew from LA to NY and all the other shippers had rules about how to separate the boxes, and were very expensive. United shipped it for 1/3 the cost, if both shipper and receiver are willing to go to the airport.

How does it work with Greyhound? You take it to the terminal, they ship it to the destination, and then they call the recipiant to come and pick it up once it arrives? I'm thinking of using them to get some rims shipped to me.

Yes, that's how it works.

Another option for heavy items is Forward Air. It Airport to airport and relatively inexpensive.

Another Freight alternative Old Dominion. Best prices I could find on the net.
