Is it the window regs. or the actual metal piece that holds the glass ?

Common problem of rust.
I replaced mine with one from a Ford Econoline 79-91 .
Needed a bit of metal work, as I reused the metal tabs from the m/b that are used to bolt it to the reg.
I then reworked the Ford unit and welded the tabs on in roughly the same place as the m/b was and also ( before welding ) carefully measured the centerline bolt holes so it would bolt up again.
I then used the m/b rubber glass insert to secure the Ford unit in place.
The glass will have to be removed to do this as it required a bit of force using a block of wood under the glass and a piece of hardwood to pummell the channel down onto the glass.
I reassembled the door and the window goes up and down like a champ.
