Looks like my trany is just fine after finally getting time to investigate the problem. Broken gear in my rear diff. If anyone has a rear differential for a 124 86 300E, please let me know asap. Thanks a ton. -joe

I don't have early 300E data handy but here s from my files onlater 124 chassis:
90-92 300E: RATIO 1:2.87
93-95 300E 2.65
93-95 499E 2.24

I'm pretty sure the diesels in '87 (sedan) used 2.87 ratio, which would make the 300E a real highway cruiser.
