FS: m103 custom cam

I just received my 264 duration cam, and installed it today. what a difference. It really wakes the engine up. My friend is going to readjust the fuel mixture.

Anyway. Here are the specs:

Intake:
264 duration at .05
435 lift

44 degree overlap.

Exhaust is stock.

$300.00 for the custom cam.

Yours will be however you want it, mine is just an example.

There is about a three week turnaround, so you can either send a core, or an additional $150.00 and I will provide a core. That core charge is refundible if you send you old cam, that is usable.

Can you provide more cam info?

ICL, LSA, duration at .004", valve events, etc. You posted just a blurb of info.

Also, how does this reground cam compare to a stock Euro M103 cam?

You can get the cam however you like it.

I noticed a 264 duration cam on Bekkers that was no longer availble, so I went with that. The guy that does them did many "back-in-the-day".

I am not sure what the specs are for the Euro cam, but I am pretty sure you will never find one.

I am pretty much just playing middle man, as I found it difficult to get this project underway alone... that is on my daily driver.

often the lifters can compensate for the lower base circle, but with some more extreme grinds you may have to use a the thicker shim.

We can discuss the exact specs per cam...

Well new Euro cams are about 110euro... they're easy to get from Germany. Just trying to see how they compare, 300SELs are a steal around these parts and I figure if I can get the HP to about 200-210hp that'd be a nice little jump.

If you can get a Euro cam you will get 175 hp, instead of the US spec of 155.

I would say you can get quite a bit more. My 264 ideals very smoothly, so I am sure you can do longer duration. Duration usually assists mid to top end, so I also figure in some extra lift for the lower rpms, where the m103 is kinda weak.

A 274 duration cam is not uncommon for BMWs m20, SOHC 2.5 L straight six. Schrick also sells a 288 duration, I would say that 288 would be the top of the duration without a bumpy idle, but who says that would be bad?

Anyway, there is no reason to use a Euro cam, unless you just want a little. I am not really that impressed with the 264 (probably the euro cam specs, as it was a normal grind). If I had a second car I would go all the way to a 288 and see what that is like!
