1985 300 TDT Wagon - PARTS CAR!

I was parked along the shoulder of the highway for less than a minute, and a very drunk uninsured bonehead driving an unregistered pickup smashed my prized Benz wagon.

At least some good can come of it since some of you may be interested in the parts. Everything from the engine (small crack in the head) to the transmission & transaxle is good. Hood, grille, fenders, seats, front passenger door etc, basically everything at the front end is good. Starter, Alternator, Compressor, Condenser, Injection Pump, Power Steering Pump, Brake Cylinder, entire brake system, etc all are good. Instrument Cluster is fully functional, even the clock works. All the power windows worked great, so those switches and motors are good. The Injector Pump for the 85 is specific to that year wagon, so this part is hard to come by. All the wheels are good except the rear drivers, which was bent when it was hit.

It's maroon outside and tan MB tex inside. My inbox on this site is full so instead of sending private messages, click the link where you send the message to my e-mail. Also, you can call me.

Man...that sucks. Hopefully he will get what's coming to him (but of course, I'm sure that won't be enough).

BTW, sorry about your wagon. Looks like a very very hard hit!

Update

Hey everyone, followup on my post. Just a reminder: unless you have some info. that might be useful for everyone to read, please try not to post a message, but send me an E-mail instead so we can save space on this site here.

Regarding parting out the car, this is one of those good Benzes where everything was in good condition and worked. I forgot to mention before that the cruise control works too. There's not much gone yet so I'll fill ya in. I've sold the transmission, cruise control amplifier, climate control, tachometer overload protection relay, sun visors, and a few very minor pieces of interior hardware. The engine runs beautifully having only 223,XXX miles on it. I'd ask $600 obo for the whole engine, accessories and all, or strip everything and offer the block for $225. If anyone lives close enough to come here near West Lafayette, IN and remove the parts with me, that would be ideal. Otherwise, let me know what you need and I'll try to get a helper and remove things for you.

For those interested, I haven't gotten anything out of the poor drunk deadbeat that smashed my car. I can't even locate him. He didn't show up for court and there's a bench warrant out for him. I don't want us to get caught up in anger and injustice about that issue though. The guy obviously had problems and needed help. So let's not make an issue to discuss it, but instead let's just try to benefit us all by getting this car's parts to people who need them, and learn from my lesson: it's worth spending the extra $30/year for uninsured motorist coverage because insurance would have reimbursed me the whole value of the car.

Please don't send private messages to my little mercedesshop inbox here which is full, but click the link to e-mail me, and keep e-mails coming. Thanks, -Ed

Parting out: Brake Master Cylinder with Brake Reservoir

I'll start listing parts one by one. Here's the Brake Reservoir and Master Cylinder. It's freshly removed and in excellent condition. $35 for both together.

I received this compressor yesterday, but unfortunately it's seized.
