I have the 2 parts cars, one has that fender available in fair condition. The problem is removing it. That undercoat makes it really hard to get off and keep in good condition. And recommendation?

Torch & Garden Hose

Use a torch and melt it out of the way... Keep a garden hose ready to put out the small fires... You can also use a grinder and some wafer blades(.032) to cut the inner fender off and then all you will need to do it split the small piece of inner fender from the outer fender.......

If the 2 parts cars are the ones in your sig, they don't have the undercoating at the top of the fender and will come right off. They changed to an inner plastic fender in '82

Fenders

The 240d parts car is a 77, already took one fender off and had heck, cannot burn it off, atleast not easily. I had to bend and cut it away before I could get it off, after attempting to burn it loose. If I were selling the part I wouldn't want to mess it up taking it off. The one I got off and put on my other car is fair, but has some warp from bending up and back. My other parts car, the 300d is an 85 but fender has rusted all the way through on bottom. None of metal on chassis is really any good, except maybe one or 2 of the doors and their parts. The 77 240d has mostly good metal parts except for the main body, which has some rust on the inside bottom, not the underside because of the undercoating, but from moisture sitting on the floor for a long time.
