Smile 240D wanted

i'm looking for a manual 240D for the body (little or no rust, suspension in good shape etc.). i have an engine for it, so if it doesn't run or has issues that's okay. i live in central vermont, so i need something within a few hours of here. please call 802-454-8360 or email yarrow8339@hotmail.com me if you've got a lead! thanks. j.d. williams

Well

I hope you find it, but it is going to be tough. But there are some around.

I would expand my search area to warmer climates if you want to find a rust-free body.

mine came from cooperstown ny... but it was just about the same situation you're in... the only difference is im the idiot trying to catch the rust before the whole thing just falls into pieces.

My neice has one with an automatic in Ashville for sale for $1200. Absolutely NO RUST ANYWHERE but it needs a paint job and the interior is a little rough. The engine was rebuilt a few years ago with new pistons/sleeves. The car will be brought back to Macon, Ga this coming weekend and will be put on ebay over the next couple weeks.

Mine will be for sale when I pull it out of storage this spring.

81 139k original miles
4 cyl
4 speed
zero rust
I am second owner, first owner imported it from Germany. A School teacher and had it service regularly. She spent over $2k on the AC before I bought it.
I was going to go bio and lost interest. Nice car. You would have no regrets.

Clean and runs like a top but I'm in Utah... it would drive to VT ..no problem.

I have an '81 automatic 240D in Maine, that I am contemplating giving up on. See my 1/15 post. Compression issues. The body is totally sound, just drove it up from South Carolina last April where it lived its whole life. Not ready to give up on it yet, but the timing of your post is perhaps fortuitous.

hello erroneous--thanks for the reply--let me know what you'd want for it. i'm not sure what it would take to make it a manual. do you? you can call me if it'd be any easier--802-454-8360.
