WTB: 5 speed manual transmission

I'm doing a conversion and I need a Mercedes 5 speed manual transmission from 1986-1993 (717.4xx). I also need the flywheel, clutch, and shifter. I'm planning on putting this in over the winter, so I'm hoping I have time to find a great deal.

Eric

Price is steep, I passed one up at $2500 (but it had a M110 attached to it which was not needed)

You also need to be prepared to deal with the drive shaft. Try and get the plate that holds up the transmission, as different car/engine/transmission combinations have it bolted in different spots. That means having wider or narrower plate. -CTH

Common pitfall....starter is on the wrong side. It would convert a OM602 or a 2.6 gasser.

The conversion is a diesel into a 95' Jeep wrangler. I'm already prepared for lots of mounting holes to be in the wrong place. LOL

Thanks!

I've got one out of my 190D 2.5 The car is gone, but I pulled the entire setup:
front & rear driveshaft sections
shifter & linkages
tranny crossmember
clutch and flywheel

I'm asking $500 & shipping for it. Tranny shifted fine before the motor stopped running.

It's in my garage collecting dust as I scrapped my entire 190D project when the motor wouldn't run.

your chances of finding a five-speed for this project is slim to none. If you do find it, the chance of it being affordable is equally slim.

Might I suggest that you do a four speed conversion now and upgrade with an extra gear if and when you find the parts?

I am wondering what motor you are using, and why not go for a smoother supra W58 box, since you are doing a lot of mods anyway... just my 3/4 cents worth...

? Not on the 124/201 etc. Starter bump is all on same side.

the gasser 5 speed has it on which side?

I know the 190D's starter wart is on the drivers side.

Just making sure that my '85 190D tranny won't work for you...

As I'm driving through NC on I-95 on Friday the 6th. Still asking $500 for all, and shipping would be CHEAP.
