My car was recently broken into and pillaged of much valuable stereo equipment...I'm looking for some used interior parts that someone may have laying around, so I can use the savings on rebuilding my audio system, most of which allstate (good hands??!!) won't cover...here's what i need...

-Two seat headrests in grey leather

-grey center foam reainforced vinyle console piece that runs from AC controls all the way to back of front seats

-zebrano woodgrain ashtray frame (not ashtray door itself, the piece directly underneath the stereo head unit

-interior of glovebox (sleeve that pulls out)
including light assembly

any help or leads would be greatly appreciated!!

Flipsyde,

Really sorry to hear about your car - I checked out the pics you had posted on your site. I don't have any spare interior bits but I did want to suggest that you hammer Allstate with a couple of letters - persistence really does work when it comes to insurance claims - and Allstate is one of the worst.

Good luck,
Nick

Nick,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Those pics actually don't even tell the whole story, there was more stuff in there than that. Allstate is trying to stress that I didn't have ZA coverage...but a friend of the family who works with State Farm has encouraged me to press the issue and be patient and write letter after letter stressing the fact that the agent never informed me about it, which is true; luckily I had pictures of everything as well as receipts. The woman handling my claim at Allstate will probably be sorry she gave me her fax number!

On a more positive note, I've found that Potomac German Auto has a good portion of the parts I need at very good prices...I don't really need them brand new anyway.

Thanks again!

btw, pics of the aftermath are at http://stormworks.max3d.com/benz_stuff/new/

Flipsyde,

My parents hit a deer in their 300TE a month ago - the car was in the shop for about two weeks (new hood, fender, bumper, etc.), Allstate didn't want to pay for the rental! Who in their right mind gets insurance without rental coverage (that is, especially if they need a car everyday...)!! The agent never offered it in order to submit a lower quote to my parents years ago when they signed up. Needless to say, they protested heavily and Allstate picked up the tab. So give it a shot.

flipSyde,
I had a car stolen years ago and I also had all the receipts for additional work done on the car. The 'suggested' payoff was not to my liking and I went round and round while they offered me used vehicles that were not even close to my loss. Finally wrote a letter to the state insurance commissoner but held off mailing it! Sent the ins. co. a copy and that lit a fire under them. They raised the payoff enough to satisfy me. The insurance companies don't like negative reports being filed with the state because this is a BAD reflection the next time they look for a rate hike. Try it and see...
Let us know how it works out for you.

I sure did I got some really great deals on the monitors...basically I paid for four LCD's what a stereo shop would charge you for one, uninstalled. It was mostly a homebrew install, which is why my car was kind of screaming to be victimized...the headrest monitors were only secured by foam, etc...if I do repeat the installation, it will be much more secure and stealthy...and I have learned my lesson about when and where to park the car.

you can see a shot of the monitors installed in one of the pics...
