Clunker? ---- 1995 S600 v12
Folks. I saw this in the junkyard today. Even called TheDon about the wheels and then decided it was just too hot to tackle. Could this be another Clunker? Please note, the door on the driver's sun visor is broken.

Wow. Just 14 years ago that super sedan sold new for a whopping $130,000, roughly (no pun intended).
The W140 S600 was even deemed as "Proponents of perfection will no doubt point out Mercedes' reputation for nth-degree engineering, bank-vault safety and zillion-mile reliability."

And THAT is why I didn't pull those wheels.......in spite of TheDon trying to talk me into it. Plus, this junkyard charges for the tires!!! SHEESH!!! Unless they are worn out. I let the air out of one....thinking I might be able to yank the tire off. I found out why we have tire machines in this world.

How does a 130k car end up like that?!

It is a shame the way someone mistreated that car.

forget about those wheels....
They have something like a 46mm offset. Wont fit onto anything but W140s... The centercaps are cool, and may be worth something...

It's there for a reason folks... just like my 750iL cars... I see them more often than not. They are simply maintenance nightmares EVEN IF you can do the labor yourself!
750iLs (at least E32 versions) can barely fetch $2k-2500 in the open market, let alone $4500. It took me nearly three hours to R&R my alternator on the 750iL a few months back... and I know my car well. It's just really packed in there. HVAC probably had issues or was dead, mechanical problems (think oil leaks like no other), HIGH dollar V12 only parts, etc, etc, etc. Yes they're fun to have, but they're not fun to keep up with.

Would the steering wheel work in a W124?

Not Clunker
According to the CARS program rules the clunkers MUST have the engine destroyed and the whole car MUST be crushed. They go from the dealer lots straight to the crusher.
These "late" model MB's and BMW's are disposable cars. Maintaining one like this S600 is silly expensive......
