W210 instrument cluster wanted
Wanted -- to rent, borrow, or buy, a temporary replacement instrument cluster for our 1996 E300D (W210, OM606NA) while its cluster is out being repaired. Replacement cluster doesn't have to be in good condition as long as the car can be operated. There are none in my local Pick and Pull, in fact, I've never seen a 210 in a junkyard here.
Our cluster has two problems (1) Even with a new float switch, the "Low Oil" warning comes on almost every time the car is driven. (2) The "Low Fuel" light works only when the tank is full. (In the 210 models, the fuel tank sender does not have "low" contacts and a third wire; the low fuel sensing is done electronically in the cluster. There's a little surface-mount IC that has failed, apparently.) Palo Alto Speedometer is supposedly able to make these repairs but I'd rather not have the car down for the week or two it will take for the work plus shipping. New clusters, as we all know, are rather pricey at $1000+. Jeremy

I have one from my 1999 E300....wanna trade for some w124 parts? I need a bumper tow hook cover for a 1995 E300, heated seats relays and wood panel for a 1987 300TD and perhaps some other stuff for my 87.....

But will it work?
Quote:
Lemme see if I can find something in the local Pick and Pull for you. The tow hook covers are hard to find, almost every car is missing them. Do you happen to know if all 124s used the same part or is 1995 unique? The relays should be common, I have lots of spares but am not sure how they mount. . . oh, just checked the schematic, no I don't have spares. Let me check a couple of W126 cars that may use the same parts. The relays usually don't get taken, it's the switches and the wood panel that are hard to find. Sixto and I worked on a 124 in the North San Jose (CA) Pick and Pull that had heated seats but when we went back yesterday it was gone, crushed. I'm not in a hurry so let me see what I can find for you. Jeremy

Nice, let me know what you find
I think the 96-99 Clusters were the same, Diesel Clusters are different than the gas ones I believe....I think the mileage is stored in the cluster

If you want to drive your car down to Southern California, there is a guy in the San Fernando Valley that fixes your instrument cluster while you wait. Only takes about 30 minutes.
