WTB 240D 4 speed linkage part
A week or so ago I ran over a piece a metal that took out my linkage(arm?) for reverse gear. This is the part from the shifter to the trans. and the arm off the tranny. The dealer wants lots of $$. I have not called Phil yet, I hope some one will sell or trade what I need. Thanks

What length is your reverse arm (from very end of 90 degree side to the end of the threads not including the adjuster)? Or, if too damaged to tell, approx. how far from the center of bushing on tranny to center of pin on shift arm (everything in neutral). I have some laying around, but all the 201 and 123 stuff got mixed up....

Thanks Kalus for the fast response! I do not have the arm as it is on the side of the road, dark, tow truck homeetc... Went back the next day and found nothing. What I think happened was a piece of re bar or the like got thrown up into the tunnel and jammed up into the centering bearing carrier(was bent and twisted) and the linkages. 4th-3rd gear broke it's end screw off on the shift side, that I was able to replace thanks MB classic center. I have used this as a excuse to re do the mounts and flex disks centering bearing and carrier.. This is the last part. I have taken a picture of the parts manual. Thank again. John

Hey John,
I went and poked around the garage and found mainly parts from the 201. The arm is probably the same and there is one on my parts 5-speed. The reverse lever is 15 inches from the end of the threads to the center of the 90 degree bend. Sold my 240 4 speed, but my buddies 300SD with a donor 240 4 speed tranny is here. It will be Saturday before I can get under it and confirm the parts are the same unless someone else knows for sure. Anyone? Klaus

Thanks for your troubles. I'll go measure in the A.M. and while down there get some pictures.
Regards, John

Klaus- I went back under the car (something I had not done since pulling the drive line) and to my embarrassment my trans. side arm is still there. I did not realize it went straight up. I never saw it with everything in the way . So what a relief that is. I took some measurements and 15" seems right. The other 2 arms are much longer. You have what my be the part. The 2 long ones I cleaned up and found no numbers. Do you have the end eye screw(don't know the proper term) parts #232 etc..
