Apologies to the community; now who wants an OM603!?

Greetings members of the Peach Parts forums! I'm not sure if any of you remember me, but if you do you may be irritated by my presence.

Late last year I came onto the website offering up parts taken off of my low-miles (*EDIT* 136K was what was on the clock when I purchased the car. It now has 152K, sorry for the confusion!) 1987 Mercedes 300D. People made me a number of offers and I began negotiations.

And then, I disappeared. I'm terribly sorry for having left members of this community hanging. Nothing fell through with the car, it was purely personal issues. A sudden windfall meant that I was no longer strapped for cash and so I decided to shelve the parting-out project for the time being. Embarrassed at my sudden change of heart, I decided just to let my Peach Parts user name slip into obscurity.

Again, I am sorry. However my actions do not reflect upon the fine hardware I have had in dry, insulated storage throughout this year.

This car:

...Is the one in question. This is currently the only photo of it I have. I will have as many photos as desired by the community upon request by Saturday.

Many of its parts are up for grabs, but at the moment I am most interested in liquidating it's legendary motor. It is in lovely condition and has not been cursed with one of the imperfect head castings. It is currently still in the car and will start up on command. It burns no oil and produces no blue smoke. Here is a video of it's last cold start before it was placed in storage:

A small amount of smoke issues from under the hood upon start-up. I have sourced this issue to a stuck breather, which I've been told is a common problem.

I have gained the assistance of a local BMW/Mercedes specialist shop and we shall be liberating the engine from the bay this week.

Due to the known-runner condition and unusually low miles of the engine my asking price is $1500. I will cut a better deal with any buyer who will pick the engine up rather than require it to be shipped. I will also throw in the attached 4 speed automatic transmission for cheap if you buy it with the engine.

Other parts on the car are up for grabs as well. The wiper motor and crazy oscillating spindle are in great shape and work perfectly. The car has a red leather interior. The front passenger and rear bench seats are in IMMACULATE condition. No tears, no sun damage, no wrinkling or cracking whatsoever. The driver's seat has leather of equal show-room quality, however there is a 5 inch tear on the very bottom right corner nearest to the door hinge. All seat motors are in perfect working order.

I'm sorry it has taken this long to get such good hardware into the capable hands of Peach Parts members. Everything is ready to go as soon as terms can be agreed upon. I do not want this glorious OM603 going into the hands of some nameless faceless ebay user, I'd like to see it go into the hands of an enthusiast. I love and deeply respect the W124, it was one of the most finely crafted automobiles ever constructed. I only wish I had the funding to have one myself. If I can't have that then at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that the heart of my car will live on with an owner who loves it at least as much as I did.

*EDIT*

I am located in Terre Haute, IN. It is at the crossroads of I-70 and Highway 41.

If the home/estate in the background was your "windfall" you speak of, that's quite a windfall.

Do you have a turnkey price for the whole car? I may have missed it, because I could not take the time to scroll back and forth through your W - I - D - E narrative/picture.

Heh, the area the car is parked around in that picture is actually part of the mentioned windfall, although not directly.

Sorry about the image, I thought I re-sized it, its fixed now.

PM has been sent off to the relevant party, anyone else asking will be answered that way as well.

There is a new offer on the table!

Due to general interest in buying the entire car for parts rather than just the engine I've been compelled to put up a new add in the cars section. I am willing to deal which is reflected in the new asking price: $1100! The new add is right here:
