Wanted: 300td tailgate handle - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I have a 1980 300td. The inside hatch handle is missing. It opened and didn't lock for awhile. Now it is stuck halfway between open and closed and won't open. I think all I need is the handle itself, but I really don't know. ?

Typically the pot metal of the hatch latch mechanism that the inside handle screws onto breaks. It happened twice on my wagon in the 5 years I owned it.

Thanks for your reply. I have to admit that it sounds like Greek to me, though. Is this an easy DIY fix? Do I need the handle part to be able to open once the pot metal part is on?

Unfortunately you need the entire latch assembly. I have one on ebay:
