Thanks for the tip. I will give them a call, But I was told by someone that they are no longer carrying Parts for the older cars. This is a 1979 300TD. wagon.

Are you taking about the self leveling suspension pump

or

the power steering pump?

On the OM617 the power steering pump is propelled by a V belt, and the self leveling pump is driven by a shaft that comes out of the (engine) head.

The part number you gave doesn't match with any power steering pumps listed in the FSM - that's all (I was trying to work out if you wanted the 65 bar or 82 bar steering pump you see)

Army, Thanks for your reply. I think I posted this too soon not having a Photo and knowing what the part is and how its used. The Mercedes shop told my friend it is discontued and gave him this number #1162360016 and said he may be able to find a user one. My understanding is it like a washer or spacer.
I am going in the morning to take a Photo and see if I can get a drawing of it. Ross

Oh right - google to the rescue:-

It is for the self leveling pump - part number 14 in the picture in this link

http://www.unitcat.ru/mercedes/7/1/1/117968/322/13/105/

It is some sort of connector between the pump and a cog(?) in the head - I don't know exactly what it is as I don't have self leveling suspension (which is just as well 'cos that would be in bits too)

If I were you I'd ask the sponsors of this forum if they can help - you never know.
