this site sucks,
Are you referring to MercedesShop in general by the comment? I have found the site to be very helpful and most people that frequently post on the various forums share an interest in all things Mercedes. I have not purchase anything through the Shop Swap Classifieds. Did you have a bad purchase experience?

no, I wouldn't even think of buying anything off this site, from anyone, prices are way too high, just because its a Benz don't mean its worth anything. like I'm looking at this aribag for my 126, people ask $300 plus on this site, I'm gonna get it for $35, its ridiculous, the rims I just bought for my 126, were aftermarket, $350 shipped with tires and with 20 lug bolts which are worth $150 alone, people on this site wanted $400 plus without tires!
ah well, some people got money to burn

Lets not paint everyone with such a broad brush. It pays to shop around and look for the best deal. I am sure you can find some good deals and some not so good deals in the local paper, e-bay, and even this site.

yes i did check it out, thxs a lot.. i was still wondering about it it said it will fit a sd/sel and i thought they were totally different (gas/diesel) and i thought a 300sd gauge cluster goes up to 125 mph, so this might now be a 300sd cluster (i might be wrong) but i am keeping an eye on it,.. thxs

Of course the cluster will fit. The seller may not really care that the tach will be off, as will the speedometer ratio, but it will fit.

no, this one is out of a 1980 300 SD the tach will not be off and the speedo gearing is located on the speedometer itself so it will not be off either. I upgraded mine to a 125 MPH speedo and this is why i have this unit.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply yours was cock-eyed. I was responding to the original question.

Breckman99,

So this means that the clusters are interchangable, even if you are increasing the speedo from an 85mph to a 120mph? The speed will not be off?

I have a 1980 300TD with a cluster that goes to 85, and there is a cluster on ebay from a 300D that goes to 120.

I ask because I have to replace the oil gauge anyway, so I figure if i can get a cluster that goes to a higher speed, why not?? I'm not sure my car will ever go any faster than the 85, but it would be nice to see!

Thanks in advance!

On my 80 300 SD the two were interchangeable, the gearing was on the speedo itself, either gauge in my car reads accurately! (Just ask the breck PD! )
