Replacement Hood Hinge for 1982 300TD?

I'm brand new to the forum, so please forgive me if I missed the answer posted elsewhere but....I just purchased this wagon recently and one of othe first things I need to replace is an inoperable left hood hinge. Local mechanic wants $411 to replace it. While I know i'll need him for replacing engine mounts and such, this sounds like something I could handle and probably for less? Also is $550 a fair price for replacing both "rear accumulators"? thanks!

Hello, you should be posting questions such as this in the main "Diesel Discussion" forum. This is the parts for sale/wanted sub-forum.

On the hood, if you have at least one other (strong) set of hands available to assist, you can replace the hinge yourself. I can't comment on the price as I don't know what the hinges go for new.

I am not an expert on the accumulators (I have a wagon but haven't had to do that job yet), but if $550 is parts and labour then it's probably a decent price for a shop to do the work.

Again, if you want a bit of adventure you can replace the accumulators yourself. Click on the "buy parts' button at the top of the page and look up your car or try part # W0133-1610399

Use the search engine in the diesel discussion forum to read posts from others talking about these jobs.

I have the driver side hinge for a w123. Some guy asked for it and then flaked out.
It's blue if that matters. I can try and dig it up if you interested 15-20 usd via paypal

Replacing motor mounts is pretty simple too. If you can replace a hood hinge you can do the mounts.
