Anybody need a 64 220se engine ?

I'm about to pull the engine+std tranny from a 64 220se/c, since the car is in the way and it has to go. Then, only the engine & tranny will be in the way and it will have to go (just make an offer).

Its condition is "unknown". I got the car dead 2 weeks back and I didn't bother to try and get it runing.

Next week, I'm driving from Long Island, NY to Pensacola, FL to Indianapolis, IN back to NY. If you're on the way, I can deliver the motor.

Chuck,

What route are you taking? What color is the interior and is there anything left of the front seats?

Thanx,

Going I95 to At least DC. Then most likely moving over to I73 so I can visit family near Ashville, then through Atlanta and then onto Pensacola. Going to Indiana via I65, and then home via I70.

The car doesn't have any interior at all. It had doors, rear quarters, a manual sunroof (anybody want a sunroof?) and good glass. Oh, and of course, a motor/tranny.

Chuck,

Do I need engine numbers, etc., to determine whether the clutch & tranny are compatible with a '66 250 engine or is it a "given"?

A 250S ? Not a problem. They should match up. But I have the parts books AND I happen to have a 250S engine and tranny sitting here (which is why I'm throwing the 220se stuff over the side).

You need the clutch & tranny ? Trying to convert an automatic to manual ? You'll also need pedals & shifter.

Chuck,

I'm not bold enuf to try to move from manual to auto. Haven't done the deal on the car yet, but the own says the clutch is shot and that his wife has chattered it to death. He also says it has a tendency to want to pop out of 2nd gear while engaging so you have to hold in that gear initially. I've been told by some that this is not so unusual, but who knows. So, yup, I might be looking for a tranny here shortly and you will practically be coming thru my back yard.

Ah, then you don't want this. you want the whole, NEW, clutch assembly that was on ebay about 2 weeks back.

Your old clutch assembly can be rebuilt easily enough. Then there's the tranny. Pretty much all the 4-speeds in the 60s are interchangable.
