What to do when a buyer does not contact you?
I have a member who has expressed interest in my nonturbo radiator. He has not contacted me for five days now -- I recontacted him three days out (he was not in Sandy's path by any stretch of the imagination). When should I assume that he is no longer interested?

You can probably assume that member isn't interested now. I think human nature is such that, if someone really wants something, they will stay on it.
There are no set rules here, apart from an expectation of common sense and general courtesy. If you want to be super-polite, you can wait another day or two for a response. |
Give them another day or two and try again. Just say that you're doing a follow up to make sure communication wasn't broken because of yourself. Emailing isn't foolproof afterall :D:D

Gotcha. Thanks, guys.

out of pocket
Sometimes, I even get away from the forum for a couple of days. I've been known to buy stuff and then forget that I need to pick it up. That reminds me, I need to plan a trip to Alabama.

Forgot to mention: If you have been using the PM function, try the Send Email approach instead. Has worked for me in the opposite situation (sellers who post an ad then seem to vanish). People are more likely to check email than to visit the forum daily.

X2 on the email
I get the feeling that most people are connected continuously via mobile phones to email and heaven knows what else these days - this type of forum software hasn't got that kind of functionality yet (thank goodness! Leave us in peace!) |
