Rare NOS Original MB Safety Reserve Canister Fuel Can
This is almost the rarest of MB accessories, it is not and never has been available in the US through the MB supply chain. You might see one of these available on eBay every year or two
It is a TUV approved 7 liter steel fuel “safety reserve canister” (B 6 7 58 0038) that fits into the the inside of the spare wheel rims that are 14” Bundts and larger rims. The canister is NOS never been installed, never had any fuel inside comes with the original box. The canister has a positive locking opening, and a separate positive attaching flexible steel spout that stores on a clip affixed to the canister. The entire inside of the canister is coated with a red fuel proof coating as is the inside of the closure. There are a couple small insignificant areas of surface rust in between a couple of the flexible spout's grooves. The canister is in otherwise excellent condition having sat on the shelf in it's box for the last 8 or nine years. I addition to the canister with its spout I also have the wagon specific mounting kit (B6 7 58 0033)that allows securing of the canister in wheels that are mounted upright in wagons.I suspect that the parts of this mounting kit can also be slightly modified (shortening the threaded section of the spare securing screw) to allow securing of the canister in the horizontal position in the sedans or coupes also. I'm offering this canister and the wagon specific mounting kit for $175 plus shipping. This Item has been sold, thank you to all who have expressed an interest. I can accept PayPal, or USPS Postal Money Order, feel free to post, PM or email with any questions. Are you selling anything else in that foto album?
I'm interested in the compression tester and the service manuals. Thanks

There has been quite a bit of interest in this fuel canister, I wish I had a dozen to sell!
But if someone is really interested in getting hold of one I was just poking around eBay.de after telling folks that the one I had was going to its new purchaser, I found this one. MERCEDES G KANISTER W460 W113 W111 W116 W123 W108 W107 W115 RESERVERAD jerry can | eBay It is listed as used but it appears to be in pretty decent shape, looks like it can be purchased for 125 Euros about $162 US today, and the seller states that he will ship worldwide, so it might be a rare chance to get a decent example. These are no longer manufactered or available from Mercedes anywhere in the world is my understanding, and they really are a superior design and construction. Putting the reserve fuel stash in a solid steel, interior coated pressure proofed container and securing that inside the spare tire's rim surrounded by the inflated cushioning tire, damn those German guys do some elegant and sexy engineering design work. |

Mercedes probably contracted an outside contractor to make the can so components to roll your own might exist.
On another note, while digging around in my R129 service manual I came across a trunk mounted refrigerator and a fire extinguisher that mounts cross ways just in front of the drivers seat cushion. It mounts to the seat base so it moves with the seat and what better place to mount the extinguisher? |

BTT: PG has been kind to post a link of another canister on eBay but having missed by a hair his NOS canister made me lose appetite for others..... still grieving over it....
