Parting out 1979 240D

Below is mostly a copy/paste of my current Craigslist ad. Not willing to ship large/heavy items (at least, not yet). Local pickup welcomed in Worcester, MA.

Currently building one good Mercedes 240D out of two cars. Have lots of good parts left over. 1979 parts car is already fully dismantled. Both cars were complete and running (rusty) and are/were 4-speed manual.

Both had light ivory paint. One was a 1979 with bamboo (tan) interior. Other is a 1983 with palomino (tan) interior. Also have various random blue and red interior parts. Some parts mint/near mint. Some are simply usable.

Willing to be fair on pricing, but not looking to give anything away (after all, I paid money for both cars). More willing to make bundle deals if buying multiple parts.

Not terribly organized at this point. I have photos, but too many to post. Can post specific photos for interested parties (if I took pictures of a specific part, that is).

Reply with parts needs/wants if you don't see it on the list. Almost everything available at this point. Asking prices listed below and are OBO. Listed prices DO NOT include shipping.

black dashboard - NEARLY MINT CONDITION!!! - $250 (it really is that nice)
black dashboard - with several large cracks, but not too bad - have photos - $50
headlight buckets (with clear fog lenses and working headlight bulbs) - $40 for the pair
hubcaps (set of 4 with clips) - $40
individual hubcaps - $15
full set of seat belts from 1979 car - need to be cleaned, webbing looks OK, but chrome is pitted (may clean up OK) - $40
240D plastic fuel tank (not leaking) - $25
plastic trunk side panels - $20
front turn signals (1979 with oval turn signal bulb holders - bulb holders are included) - $25 for the pair
1979 BEHR manual 240D radiator and fan shroud - $60
complete 1979 240D wiring harness - EVERYTHING from bumper to bumper. A few nicks, and one or two snapped off connectors at the ends, but no cuts and fully intact otherwise. LABELED as best I could when pulled, too - $200
center console - 3 available in varying condition, from slightly beat-up to near-mint - $20- $40 - $55 based on which on you want

LIST OF ITEMS SOLD:
STARTER
center console/shifter cover plate - black plastic
climate control unit from 1979 240D
1983 Palomino MB TEX passenger seat
4 working MANUAL window regulators

Hey, I'm right in Chelmsford. Got any 616 manual flywheels lying around?

One of my most requested items. I have the 1979 mechanical bits removed. Engine and transmission are still mated.

But, I'm trying to keep the clutch/transmission/flywheel/pedal cluster/shifter/etc together for someone who might want to swap them into an automatic 240D or 300D.

Then again, feel free to make an offer. Worst I can say is no.

BUMP

I reread my initial post. Just to clarify - I'm willing to ship smaller items at this point. Just not looking to deal with the hassle of shipping large items.

would you be willing to separate out the hazard switch and sell it by itself?

Hm. I might hold out 'till a point at which I could afford the pedalset as well.

PM me - not sure what you're thinking on pricing, but may as well shoot me an offer on it. Maybe we're in the same ballpark. Maybe not.

For a 1979 240D:
1) Looking for complete glove box door (exterior face, interior cover with working latch mechanism, hinges and screws), AND

2) Driver's door exterior handle with key slot and inside of door latching mechanism.

3) Are hubcaps painted to match a body color or unpainted? Sold as a set or singles?

Need prices + shipping to San Antonio, TX.

Thank You, Jack

Hello, Jack

1) I have the '79 glove box door. The latch isn't "springy". I don't know if maybe a dab of grease will help, or if it has other issues.

2) I do have a spare set of door handles, but it would help to know what issues you're having with yours. Chrome is faded on the ones I have. All the lock cylinders on the '79 were in better shape, and I plan to use them on the '83. Keep in mind that you don't need a driver's side handle, specifically. The passenger side handle is identical if you flip it over (as I understand it).

3) I have roughly one set plus a few hubcaps, I think all in light ivory. Some are repaints. I have a full set in black (fairly poor repaint, but passable). I have several unpainted. Most of the hubcaps I have have clips. Willing to sell individual caps.

It would help to know how many hubcaps you want in order to put together a price with shipping.

I'm trying to ship everything priority mail flat rate, but I think with the hubcaps, I would likely have to use a larger, non-flat-rate box.

OK, ditch the flywheel. Do you have a working starter? I'll PM you my phone number.

Google the part number on the start, if the car was built for a warm climate....a 1979 usually came with a low power starter.....the have been x but you still come across them...my car had one..

Hm. I'll do that... I'm hoping this was just a NE car... I only need it to turn my engine over to pull compression readings, anyway.

For what it's worth, I bought the 1979 parts car from the original owner in CT, and every indication I have says the car spent its whole life in CT until I brought it to MA to part it out.
