1985 190D 2.2 601 diesel engine and manual transmission

Full disclosure: This is actually a whole car, but it is so rough that I don''t think it can be economically repaired. It is currently in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I am asking $900 for the whole car with title.

The good: It has only 159,000 miles, and the engine starts nearly instantly, even on the coldest Virginia days. The manual transmission is out of a 1987 190E, and also is in great shape. The best part of this deal is that you can start up the engine, hear it run, test drive it, and even drive it home.

The bad: The car lived in New York state before I bought it, and it has serious rust. The top support for the left rear spring is rusted out, and you can tell the left side of the car is an inch or two lower than the right. Also one of the rear wheel bearing is making serious noise. The air conditioning doesn't work, the cloth trim inside is a mess, and one of the right windows has come loose and is held up with tape.

When I got this car, I went through it and fixed all the little stuff. The thermometer works, I replaced all the missing knobs and out-of-the-way light bulbs. Both front seat control switches are new. Brakes are in good condition.

I was planning on getting a 190E with a blown engine or trans, and doing a transplant, but I have other projects going, and clearly, I am never going to get around to it.

Sad to hear the body is rusting apart, such a RARE model! Of course the engine, manual trans and differential are worth their weight in gold but if it were me, I'd stick with the plan of finding a dead 190E to swap the guts into.
