FS: Webasto heater --- Memphis, TN

I recently pulled a Webasto heater from a Euro 1982 500 SEL. I have the heater and the control. The wiring harness was cut; wires can be spliced or resoldered on the circuit board to repair. The unit had good, fresh coolent in it; no rust when I poured it out. The unit is complete including all hoses and muffler/exhaust tubing.

Pics added tonight. I have been unable to find one for comparison sake, so throwing a number out there.

Asking $450 plus shipping; open to offer.

This would be a gas unit not diesel? They make both.

This was removed from a gasser; 1982 Euro 500SEL. I also have the original Mercedes instruction manual. I promise to get pics uploaded this weekend.

Are they convertable? or do they only run on one or the other type of fuel?

I know quite a bit about Webastos, at least compared to the average bloke. They are convertible but you would need the right parts to swap (from a diesel one). It would be simple(r) to put a small tank (1 gallon or so) somewhere specifically for the Webasto assuming you install it on a diesel car. I did that on my SD in the past.

I had one, actually two of these units (2nd was for parts). I bought the whole one from Charlie that he pulled at the parts yard in CA. I never got it working right (enough to preheat my engine for a cold winter start) and sold them as a package to a guy. I bought a NOS one in 2007ish and put it in my SD for winter driving. It was a gas unit and I put a small tank under the hood. It worked great and got the SD engine heated on cold winter days. I sold the SD with the Webasto installed. I now have two newer (to me, bought used off Craiglist a few years ago) Webasto units (one gas and one diesel). One is installed on my 6.5L diesel Suburban and the other sits on the shelf (I don't drive my 300TD in the winter).

Dr. Sternschnuppe, Yes please. Can you post a link here or would you be willing to email?

Thanks.

BTW, i still have no confirmation if you actually CAN convert from gasoline to diesel by just replacing the non-hole fleece with a holed fleece. Onward, to more research.
