W123 LED instrument cluster lighting and turn signal LED

I made an extra set of these (total of 4 LEDs) a while ago for my 85 and just dug them up, works great. It will make your cluster brighter and whiter at night compared to the incandescent bulbs and run cooler. It will not burn out (will outlast your car).

$10 shipped CONUS.

See for yourself. On left is a cluster LED , middle is a turn signal LED, right is a cluster incandescent bulb.

Interested..

Are these just sockets with LED's put in place and you swap them out, no other modifications needed?

Yes, just swap them out, no mod necessary. The 2 cluster lights you have to remove the incandescent bulbs from the socket and insert the LED's. The 2 turn signal LED's have their own sockets that I soldered the LED's onto. They are polarity sensitive, if it does not light up, re-insert the other way (180 degree) and it will light.

Do you just have the one set for sale? I wouldn't mind trying them on my 85 300D. You could ship to my address in Myrtle Beach.

If you have just the one set, perhaps you could let us know the source of LEDs that will work. I really just want the ones for the cluster illumination. Do they really throw more light down the light tubes?

Above set of 4 is sold. I do have 4 more of the cluster illumination LED's (2 needed per cluster). $2 ea + shipping. PM me. I won't be able to ship till day after Xmas.

They do make the cluster brighter and whiter. Made a noticeable difference in my 85.

Wonderful. Been thinking about this. Kinda dumb thinking on my part, but was concerned about the lower voltage for the blinker light.

Maybe let us know which ones you choose at some point. Lol. I looked through the recommended on the led site. Seems legit. Was thinking of doing blue.

To directly answer the ''do they make it brighter'' question.

On my '83 300D I replaced the turn signal indicator dash bulbs. I can now stand at the rear of the car and watch the blinking lights on the dash. Sorta lights up the cabin at night too.

They run much cooler, much much brighter and 99% of LEDs have at least a 50K hour before failure rating. 50k hrs is a looong time for a turn signal to blink.

For the rest of the cluster, consider if you drive 8 hrs a nite how long they will last.

I'd be happy to pay for a full set after the holidays, if you don't mind producing a few more?

I came across this site the other day. They offer a cluster lighting upgrade that does work with the dimmer circuit. For some reason, they have most older Benzes, but not w123. There may be a good reason, but I can see that getting LEDs to front of cluster would be a good idea.

MBCluster.com Mercedes W140 Instrument Cluster Repair Homepage

My dimmer has been bypassed, so my question is - are the LEDs TOO bright without dimming?

You might be able to start a new business.
I would be interested in a set as well.
Or info on the parts used to make myself a set!
Merry Christmas

Yes, they will dim with the dimmer. I do not have a full set of 4. I only have 2 sets of the cluster illumination LED's (2 each set) left. I'll hold off going to the post office till Monday Jan 29th so if you want a set, do so before then. I'll consider the request in making up full sets. I have to round up more sockets in order to do so.

Count me in for a set. I was going to be pulling my cluster anyway to replace the dimmer. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

I just checked the 2 turn signal LED's in a W123 cluster and they did not fit. It is actually for a VW cluster. They look very similar but are not interchangeable. Sorry for the mix up.

I do not have a stash of used incandescent turn signal lamps/sockets to convert to LED's so I cannot supply them. If you have some used or burned out turn signal lamps and want to send them to me, I can convert them to LED for you.
