Just for clarification, you definitely want the 2 liter version? Was that sold in the U.S.?

My 1987 300TD wagon was sold and my 2003 W210 E320 wagon was totaled (sheds tear).

I have a 1983 W123 200D that suffered some engine damage after developing an oil leak...

Any particular reason to keep it original? I'd think that an OM616 swap would be easy enough to do and easy enough to come by.

Well my fallback plan is to use a euro NA OM617 I have sitting in my garage actually, but I'd like to keep it original if possible simply because of the unusualness of it. The chassis spent most of it's life in Texas and is in great shape.

Also, I have no actual experience with engine swaps so it seems the most straightforward to have an "eye for an eye". From what I've heard, I think the OM615 I have can be repaired by replacing camshaft journals, but I believe this would require pulling the engine anyways and I have zero experience with that. So I figure if somebody has a rusty 200D with a good engine, getting a spare would be a good idea.
