Just for clarification, you definitely want the 2 liter version? Was that sold in the U.S.?

I have a 1983 W123 200D that suffered some engine damage after developing an oil leak...

Not US-spec.

Any particular reason to keep it original? I'd think that an OM616 swap would be easy enough to do and easy enough to come by.

Also, I have no actual experience with engine swaps so it seems the most straightforward to have an "eye for an eye". From what I've heard, I think the OM615 I have can be repaired by replacing camshaft journals, but I believe this would require pulling the engine anyways and I have zero experience with that. So I figure if somebody has a rusty 200D with a good engine, getting a spare would be a good idea. |
